ZEISS Greater China President: Zeiss’s development in line with Shanghai FTZ

Shanghai will usher in a new initiative of China’s openness to the world as the first China International Import Expo (CIIE) is to take place this November. At the Expo, Zeiss will present itself in the Intelligent and High-end Equipment Exhibition Area, together with other top intelligent equipment manufacturers. It was also revealed by Mr. Foerst that through the CIIE platform, his company will focus on three areas: healthcare, innovation and research, and manufacturing. Full of anticipation, he also believed that the expo is going to promote international trade and globalization.

According to the president, economically, the business in the last ten years has grown more than ten times for ZEISS China, thanks to China’s reform and opening up. But more importantly, through its growth in China and expanding activities in manufacturing and R&D in the country, the initiative has also enriched the knowhow of Zeiss.“The people we have in R&D in Shanghai are bringing new ideas into the ZEISS Group. We are also learning from our Chinese customers to make better products not only for China but actually for the world. So our growth in the China market has been beneficial for the ZEISS Group in terms of innovation and development and expansion of new ideas.” That’s why he used “inclusive” and “a win-win situation” to describe China’s reform and opening up. ZEISS is both a participant and a beneficiary. Mr. Foerst also promised that ZEISS China will stay true to its long-term commitments to the China market and contribute to the Chinese Dream.
